Shanghai is situated at 31"14' north latitude and 121"29' east longitude, and in the middle of China's east coastline. It occupies a total area of 6,341km2 with a total resident population of 20 millions. It has a pleasant climate, with four distinct seasons. The average temperature is around 18°C and the annual precipitation is 1,240mm.

A famous historical and cultural city, Shanghai is a gate to the Yangtze River delta. It is not only the largest economic and trade center but also a comprehensive industrial base and the leading port in China.

The most prosperous international metropolis in China, Shanghai has won its bid for the Expo 2010 which will be hold from May 1 to October 31, 2010.  The grand exhibition will be attended by more than 200 countries and international organizations and 70 million tourists.
